As the Indian film industry is one of the largest in the world, there is always room for young and emerging talents to shine and make a mark with their impeccable performances. This year also saw emerging actors blasting their way through stiff competition and making audiences sit up and realize their talents. If there’s one thing we need this year, it’s a little fresh air and these young stars gave us just that and we really enjoyed seeing them on screen.
Here is a list of actors who passed with great success:
Alaya F
While several new faces were making their way into the Bollywood industry, most bet on Alaya F, who made her big debut with “Jaawani Jaaneman” alongside Saif Ali Khan and Tabu. The young actress, with her talent and captivating stage presence, was the most promising newcomer of the year and left an indelible mark on the audience. It’s surely not an easy task for any newcomer to share screen space with actors like Tabu and Saif Ali Khan in her first movie, but Alaya definitely stood her ground and brought a fresh vibe to the movie!
Shreya Chaudhry
Ever since Amazon Prime Video’s Bandish Bandits show came out, everyone’s talking about the talented Shreya Chaudhry! She previously worked with Imtiaz Ali on a short film, but she really was recognized as the struggling pop singer Tamanna Sharma in the web series that wowed audiences and the Internet. Apparently the actress has received several offers after her time in Bandish Bandits and we are so excited to see more on screen!
Sanjana Sanghi
Sanjana Sanghi first appeared in small roles in such films as Rockstar, Hindi Medium and Fukrey, but she made her film debut as a lead actress alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in the film “Dil Bechara.” Sanjana’s nuanced and delicate portrayal in the film as terminally ill teenager Kizzie Basu earned her much praise from audiences and critics. Sanjana has now been tied up to star opposite Aditya Roy Kapur in the action thriller, “Om: The Battle Within.”
Ritwik Bhowmik
After being a part of several short films in the past, Ritwik got his big break by playing the title role in the Amazon Prime Video series Bandish Bandits. His performance as the passionate and impulsive Indian classical singer who wants to succeed won hearts everywhere. His charming smile and funny personality from him is just an added bonus! We sure can’t wait to see what the actor has in store for us in the near future.
Prajakta Kohli
Popularly known by her YouTube name “MostlySane,” the digital influencer took the leap and made her acting debut with the Netflix series “Mismatched.” And she did a fabulous job on it, striking a chord with her audience once again as the ambitious but desperate young romantic in this college drama. Not so, Prajakta has also been tied up to star alongside Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Neetu Kapoor in the upcoming film, Jug Jugg Jeeyo.
